You're not the only one noticing people mixing and matching different fabrics that normally seem mismatched. Today, mixing formal with informal is what designers are sleekly doing, blurring the lines of what is supposed to be in fashion, rather than what should be!
In my diligent review of the 2012 fashion collections, I have noticed this trend to be more commonly placed amongst men, and here and there in the repetoire of women.
What this style is revealing is that you can mix your work wear with your street wear to asymmetrically create a novel look when going to work or cruising the streets, one of seamless bemusement. Designers like Dolce & Gabbana (also D&G), J. Crew, and Michael Bastian just to name a few, have transcended this approach to introduce the modern gentleman and avante-garde woman.
Mixing like a master of the formal with informal means to mix luxury garments and eclectic pieces like you do not care (but we know you do!!!), and do it with precision. Not everything will go with anything is something to remember. For example, guys can mix a blazer jacket with a nice dark denim pant and still pull off a bowtie and a hat. Women can do similar by rocking a nice pair of high pumps with denim and a striking blouse and blazer. You can even wear your dockers with combat boots!
Rock it out, don't be scared! You must have the courage as you would in fearless layering and not care about the right and wrongs. Mix your outfits up!
